Incan ruin

Ingapirca
This is one of the few surviving buildings from the Incan outpost of Ingapirca, situated at an altitude of over 10,000 feet. It shows the remarkable skills of a culture that had no written language and had not discovered the wheel. The area was first used by the Caņaris culture beginning about A.D. 900, and then taken over by the Incans in the 15th century. Most of the buildings were mostly disassembled following the defeat of the Incans by the Spaniards in the 1530s.
