Introduction

The photographs in this gallery were taken in Ecuador in July 1991. The following areas were visited:

  • Andes Mountains highlands:
    Rio Verde (on eastern slope)
    Ingapirca (elevation about 10,600')
  • Northwestern (Pacific) slope of Andes (fragmented forests)
    Santo Domingo (remnant rainforest patch)
    Tinalandia
  • Eastern (Atlantic) lowlands (Amazon basin)
    Baņos
  • Rio Palenque (Remnant of lowland rainforest on Pacific (western) side of Andes)

Other sites, particularly in the Amazon basin (eastern) were also visited but no photographs were taken because my camera was stolen. The map at right shows the locations in which the photographs were taken. All photographs were taken with a Nikon FA.
